HOMESTAY KG. TELUK KETAPANG
Situated in the north of the town Kuala Terengganu, Teluk Ketapang Homestay is a ten-minute drive from the Sultan Mahmud International Airport. Separated from the town by the Kuala Terengganu River, Teluk Ketapang village is accessible by both road and boat. The 3 km long Sultan Mahmud bridge connects the town to the village, crossing the vibrant Pulau Duyong (a culture-rich island), or using the traditional 'Bot Penambang' (slow passenger riverboats) transporting people across the river from the town's Shah bandar jetty.
Kampung Teluk Ketapang is a traditional yet vibrant fishing village, where the making of Keropok (traditional fish sausages and fish crackers), Belacan (shrimp paste) and Budu (fish sauce) are a daily routine for the villagers. On certain days, travelers can also witness some of Terengganu's traditional games like 'Cak Kekok Kaki Ayam,Ting-Ting Bulu Ayam' and 'Bola Takraw Bulat'. Thriving small scale businesses such as batik imprints, sale of dried fish and squids have their demand as far as Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The famous traditional boat making village on Pulau Duyong (which is also the Monsoon Cup Yacht Racing venue) and the Terengganu State Museum are just a riverboat ride away. .
Pasar Kedai Payang (Payang Central Market) is also just across the river, next to the town's Shah bandar jetty, where travelers can enjoy a great variety of traditional food and shop for local arts & crafts, while living the culture of Terengganu; all items are at a very reasonable price. .
